Client Spotlight: Alexa's Journey With Strong Chicks Rock

Alexa is one of the many rad women that are a part of Strong Chicks Rock. She joined two months ago and has been such a light on the team.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a part of SCR? Well, Alexa is sharing with you what it's been like for her, some tips and how her life has changed since joining. 

Without further ado, Alexa...

 

What made you decide to join SCR? How did you find us?

I decided to join SCR because I was on a journey of self love and I came across Rachel's Instagram and it immediately grabbed my attention. I started the 30 day self-love challenge and It absolutely helped bring me out of my shell and really continue to work on myself. I always would see the posts about other SCR members and I decided that when I had extra money it would be a good idea for me to give it a try! SCR to me, seemed great because not only did Rachel focus on helping people with finding a workout plan that worked for them, but also helping clients mentally and really promoting self love and mindful eating which was so different from anything else I have seen before.

What were goals upon joining SCR? Have you met those, or have they evolved as you've been a part of the team?

 

When I joined SCR I had three goals in mind:

1. To be more mindful to how I mentally feel everyday, I was tired of feel so anxious and stressed out and I knew I needed to find ways to feel more at ease.

2. To find an eating plan that works for me, because I tried to diet before, drink shakes and other things but nothing worked for me. ILOVE food all kinds of food and I needed something that didn't make me feel bad because I wanted a piece of cake or a cheeseburger with an egg on top of it LOL.

3. To start enjoying working out, instead of forcing myself to go. I wanted to fall in love with working out, I wanted a plan that was going to make me excited and challenge me. In the last month I have noticed that I am wanting to go to gym it really does help with stress and I LOVE THAT.

What has been the biggest take away since joining?

THE TRIBE. THE SUPPORT. THE MOTIVATION. THE INSPIRATION THAT YOU GET DAILY.

What are you most proud of yourself for since joining?

I am really proud of myself for sticking to it, and keeping my mindset positive. I am also proud of myself for coming more and more out of my shell and really connecting to the program. I am constantly growing and I have SCR to thank for continuing to push me forward. 

Can you share your most recent Strong Chick Moment? 

The SCM's are when you feel most empowered, confident, strong and connected to your body!

Being able to meal prep and really enjoying my food, but also being able to go out to a restaurant and enjoy whatever sounds good to me without feeling guilty..score :) 

What piece of advice do you have for women who are nervous about joining a new program?

I know its scary to get out of your comfort zone, and to sign up for something completely out of your element but GO FOR IT. Push yourself out of your comfort zone so that growth can happen, and open your eyes to something that may help you tremendously. We all deserve support, motivation, compassion, so why not join a group of women who want the same thing? I love seeing other people grow, and become happier. If something sounds good to you, or if you think something could help you don't hold back! 

Did you know much about self love prior to joining? What have you learned most about self love and how has your relationship changed since joining?

I joined because I was on a journey into self love. I needed to learn how to love myself and SCR has really contributed and continued to push me more and more into self love. I think I picked up every self help book that I possibly could in the last year. I wanted to know everything, I wanted to feel better, I wanted to stop complaining all the time, I wanted someone to tell me exactly what I need to do to change how I feel. The thing that I learned though, is that everyone has a unique journey finding themselves, and finding self love. Nobody can tell you exactly what you need to do to love yourself, you have to try things, get out of your comfort zone, work through your issues,  and find self care activities that make your soul happy. SCR helps so much with self love because this program pushes you to find what works for you :) 

How was your relationship with food prior to joining and how is it now?

My relationship will food changed tremendously after I had a baby. I could no longer eat whatever I wanted and feel okay. I needed to eat for energy and to feel good and to feel happy in my body. I was self conscious for a long time and I would try to eat healthy and then when the weekend would come I would eat a ton of 'bad" food because I didn't let myself enjoy anything during the week. After joining SCR it has changed my mindset to balance, to focus more on balance. To let myself enjoy what I like but to also make sure I am eating things that are good for my body, energy levels ect. I am starting to feel less and less guilty when I eat something "bad" and I love that my mindset is changing. 

Whats your favorite exercise from your program and why?

I would say my favorite exercise is lunges, I would rather lunge around the block outside than run so this is what works for me. Plus I like to challenge myself to see how far I can go LOL. 

Whats your favorite form of self care?

HANDS DOWN A LUSH BATH BOMB AND A GOOD BOOK. 

What does being a strong chick mean to you?

Being a Strong Chick to me, means being the best version of myself, and doing things that benefit me emotionally and physically. Constantly growing and pushing myself out of my comfort zone. Being strong in my authenticity and gaining the mindset to live for me and not for others opinions of me. 

Favorite song to workout to?

My favorite album to listen to right, because I cant just pick one song is lifelines by IPREVAIL. The best motivating album to keep you going! 

Favorite post workout meal?

I really like smoothies because I can throw in so many different things and it will still be delicious!

Favorite mantra?

SMALL STEPS EVERYDAY

I love this simply because patience is key when it comes to growth.
